2007 Notes
11/25/2007- A's Ink Hanson

On the heals of the Minnesota Twins losing star centerfielder Torii Hunter via free agency to the Anaheim Angels, the Ada A’s announced the signing of Jim Hanson to a lifetime contract. While financial details of the contract are not being released at this time, sources close to the team indicate that there is a profit-sharing clause for the lucrative pop machine in the A’s clubhouse.


Team spokesman Mike Gullingsrud said “other clubs in the area were putting out feelers for Jim’s services, so we felt we needed to wrap him up and make sure that he is a lifelong member of the A’s- it’s a big relief for everybody”. Rumor had it that the Ulen Babe Ruth team was the most aggressive in the pursuit of Hanson.

7/22/2007-Reds eliminate A's
The visiting Crookston Reds broke open 2-0 margin in the 7th inning and cruised to an 11-1 victory over the Ada A's to clinch their opening round league playoffs series, two games to none. Crookston had won the opening game of the series on Friday night with a dramatic 4-3 comeback win in the bottom of the ninth inning.

7/18/2007- Crookston K's A's
Crookston pitcher Eric Erdmann allowed only four hits and struck out 14 Ada batters as Crookston earned the #2 seed in the league playoffs with a 6-2 win in Ada. Crookston and Ada will face off in a best-of-three series in the first round of league playoffs. The games are slated for Friday night in Crookston, Sunday night in Ada, and if necessary, Monday night in Crookston.

7/17/2007- Ada Granted Victory in Suspended Game
Facing a lack of players and umpires for the coninuation of a suspended game from Sunday afternoon, the East Grand Forks squad conceded a victory to Ada. The teams were to complete the second game of their Sunday doubleheader, in which Ada led 7-6 in the bottom of the sixth inning with one out.

7/16/2007- A's Lose Heartbreaker
The homestanding Crookston Reds scored the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on a ball hit in the infield, and came away with an 8-7 victory. It was the first lead of the game for the Reds, as Ada held leads of 3-1 and 5-2 in earlier innings. Ada used clutch two out hitting to score most of their runs.

7/15/2007 Ada Faces East Grand Forks
Under cloudy and dreary skies, the A's faced off against league foe East Grand Forks. The host Heaters squeakd out an 8-7 victory in the first game, stranding the A's tying run at second, and the go-ahead run at first, to end the game. The second contest was a see-saw affair, and the A's held a 7-6 advantage with an out in the bottom of the sixth, when the drenched field became unplayable. The game is suspended until Tuesday, July 17. Meanwhile, the A's will make up a rained out game on Monday at Crookston, and then host Crookston in Ada on Wednesday, making for a busy week.

7/11/2007- Ada Thumps Moorhead Saints
Ada hosted the Saints and came away with a 13-4 victory. Aaron Cook led the hit parade with two extra base hits that plated four runs. Mike Gullingsrud and Mark Nelson also added hits that scored two runs each. Chris Lee pitched six innings to earn the win on the mound, while Jameson Benson hurled three scoreless innings in relief.

7/7/2007 Ada Takes Two from Roseau Royals
The A's earned a regular season sweep of Roseau with 7-6 and 5-3 victories. Ada used some timely hitting and standout, complete game pitching performances from Aaron Cook and Kenneth Hayden to earn the victories and move to 10-8 on the season.

6/30/2007- A's Take Doubleheader over Warroad
The A's swept two games from the visiting Muskies 8-5 and 4-0. In the first game, Ada answered a game tying homerun by Warroad with a three-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth inning, and held on for the win. Aaron Cook earned the win on the mound. In the second game, Kenneth Hayden hurled a complete game, two hit shutout to earn the win. The A's are now 8-8.

6/28/2007- Ada Falls to Bemidji Mudcats
The host Ada A's dropped an 11-5 contest to a strong Bemdji Mudcats squad. The A's offense was paced by multiple hit efforts by Chris Ellingson, Aaron Cook, Keith Hanson and Tim Ronningen. Cook led the way with a a two-run homer, a double and a single, totalling three RBI's.


6/27/2007- Moorhead Miners Top A's 14-6
Moorhead broke open a close game in the later innings to defeat the host A's. Ada held a 2-1 lead into the fifth, when Moorhead scored two runs to take the lead. The Miners tacked on runs late in the game to add to their margin. Ada managed several runs in the 8th inning to cut the lead to 9-6, but Moorhead answered. Kenneth Hayden, Taylor Sannes and Chris Ellingson each had multiple hit games for the A's. Chris Lee pitched well in the starting role, giving up one earned run on four hits in five innings of work, but took the loss.


6/23/2007- A's Sweep Roseau Royals
The A's hosted league opponent Roseau and came aways with two victories, 11-6 and 11-1. Brandyn Dahl hurled five sold innings in the first game to earn the win;  Brian Ziegler finished the game in relief. A's rookie Taylor Sannes and veteran Chris Ellingson each had multiple hit games. In the second game, Kenneth Hayden hurled the complete game win, and helped himself out at the plate by driving a single and a double. The A's record for the season now stands at 6-6.
